Technical Accountant

As a member of the Accounting Team, you will be reporting to the Controller. Stem is seeking a highly qualified Technical Accountant with strong analytical skills for its high-growth, rapidly growing business operations in Millbrae, California. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, team player with a very strong working knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal controls. This individual will provide technical accounting guidance for complex revenue accounting issues. Our work environment is fun, but professional and fast paced. If you enjoy multi-tasking on a variety of projects, working in teams, and interacting directly with clients (both internal and external), you will enjoy a career with our team.   Research, evaluate and document technical accounting and reporting implications of complex and non-standard transactions, as well as general corporate accounting matters and draft related memos Analyze contracts to determine the accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP Detailed knowledge of relevant accounting rules (e.g. SAB 104, ASC 605-25 (including ASU 2009-13, ASU 2009-14 (fka EITF 08-1, EITF 09-3), ASC 985-605 (fka SOP 97-2) relating to software, SaaS and services revenue recognition and multiple-element arrangements Support maintaining, updating, and evaluating new accounting policies Be a key part of the annual audit with external auditors, the accounting team, and executive management Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts Proactively identifies, recommends and implements necessary policies and procedures Assist in month end, quarter end, year-end accounting close Prepare various journal entries for areas of responsibilities and clearly document sources of data and reasoning for entries Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data Assist in year-end audit with timely and accurate PBC requests and supporting schedules Research technical accounting matters and assist in the preparation of technical accounting white papers Required Skills Comprehensive and current understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting principles and regulations Understanding and experience with researching accounting standards Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley / internal control frameworks Outstanding oral and written communication skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously A "roll up your sleeves" approach in order to accomplish all necessary tasks Be flexible and a team player Lead or participate in special projects as needed Prior experience in accounting system conversion a plus Required Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA with 5+ years of experience in relevant accounting field Familiarity with QuickBooks and/or NetSuite a plus Familiarity with SalesForce reporting a plus Ability to work independently and multi-task Able to identify areas for improvement and streamline processes Proficient in Excel. 257-109

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
